Q: Is there an endowment or entry fee?
A: No. Here you control your own finances
Q: Are dining facilities available?
A: Lake St. Charles has a spacious dining room with a splendid view of attractive grounds. Residents may select from a choice of meal plans which are available for a monthly charge.
Q: Is there a selection of apartment plans?
A: Yes, we offer five different floor plans with a selection of price ranges. These allow you to choose an apartment which is ideally suited to your budget.
Q: Just what can I expect to pay per month to live at Lake St. Charles?
A: You pay your monthly rent. You pay for the meals you choose, and you pay the electric company directly for heating and cooling your apartment unless you choose our "Economy" plan. You pay the telephone company directly for your private telephone service and cable TV should you choose it.
Included in your monthly fee are:

Q:
Is a deposit required?
A: Yes, a security deposit is required with your rental application. At time of move in, your last month's rent plus your current rent is required.
Q: Are food services available?
A: Yes, three meals are served seven days a week. A choice of meal plans, prepared at the direction of our professional chef, is always available for a monthly charge. Guests are always welcome; the charge is nominal. "Late Breakfast" and "Late Lunch" are also available.
Q: Is there house cleaning?
A: Yes, apartments are cleaned weekly by our carefully chosen staff. Bed linens (sheets and pillowcases) will be provided and laundered weekly, unless you prefer to do your own.
Q: Is maintenance available?
A: Yes, plumbing, air conditioning, grounds care, and other general maintenance chores will be provided by our maintenance staff.
Q: Is Lake St. Charles safe and secure?
A: Yes, we have non-stop 24-hour security programs seven days a week!
Q: What other services do you offer?
A: We offer many more services including scheduled transportation. A 29 passenger bus and 7 passenger van are scheduled on a regular basis, seven days a week, to shopping areas, banks, medical offices, churches, and entertainment. Our full-time activity director also provides a wealth of programs, socials, and excursions. And best of all, our friendly staff is thoroughly trained to provide all services. No staff member is allowed to accept tips or gratuities for these or any other services for the residents.

Q: Will my apartment feel like "home"?
A: We do everything possible to assure that Lake St. Charles not only feels like "home," but is "home!"
Each apartment includes:
· A kitchen with easy to reach cabinets, stainless steel sink, garbage disposal, refrigerator/freezer and electric stove.
· Full bathrooms with vanity, tub or shower enclosure equipped with assist bars.
· Carpeting throughout.
· Individually controlled heat and air conditioning units, and separate hot water heaters for each apartment.

Smoke detectors
and sprinkler systems.

Emergency
call systems in each bedroom and each bathroom

Generous,
lighted closets.

TV antenna
hookup to central antenna.

Q: What kind of activities do you have?
A: Everything from cards and bingo to parties and dances, book reviews & trips to local theaters. The range is varied so we can meet the social, recreational, and interest levels of each of our residents.
Q: Are my pets welcome?
A: Your pets are allowed in your apartment, but never in the hallways or common areas. At no time can they be allowed to disturb the other residents. Dogs must be kept on ground level apartments so they can be taken out through the patio door. Each resident is responsible for cleaning up after his/her pet. Indoor cats are allowed on any floor as they stay inside the apartment at all times.
Q: Is there access to health care?
A: St. Louis University, Department of Gerontology, headed by Dr. John Morley, has an office at Lake St. Charles. Once a week this team of physicians and nurses are on site and available by appointment for all health care needs. A podiatrist and optomitrist also offer on-site appointments.
Q: If I have medical appointments, will transportation be offered?
A: Yes, transportation is available for all medical appointments. We can even schedule your appointments for you. We can also arrange for some lab work and x-rays to be done in the privacy of your own apartment.
Q. What if I fall and can't get up?
A: There is an emergency call system in each bedroom and each bathroom. Should you need assistance, it will bring the staff to your apartment; they will follow your orders as to seeking professional medical assistance.
Q: Is there on-site consultation?
A: Yes, on-site nurse consultation for blood pressure readings, monitoring diets and special problems, and medical management services.
Q: Is assisted living available if necessary?
A: "Assisted Living" apartments are available at Lake St. Charles. Here residents' medication is controlled by the staff 24 hours a day, and assistance is given with bathing and dressing as needed. These apartments are licensed by the Division of Aging as Residential Care Facility II to insure the highest ratio of staffing personnel to residents.

Q: How do I get to Lake St. Charles?
A: From I-70 and Highway 94-
Getting to Lake St. Charles is very easy. From the intersection of I-70 and Highway 94 (First Capitol) drive south on Highway 94 for 1 mile until you reach Pralle Lane. Turn left at the traffic signal onto Pralle Lane. Go 1/4 mile to Honey Locust Lane. Turn left and follow our driveway to the main entrance.
From Highway 40/61 and Highway 94-
From the intersection of 40/61 and 94, drive north on Highway 94 to Pralle Lane. Turn right onto Pralle Lane and left onto Honey Locust. (Should you miss the turn onto Honey Locust, proceed to Sugar Maple, turn left, and when you see NHC HealthCare on your right, turn left on our blacktop driveway, go up the hill, and make a right turn which will lead you to our front door.)

Q. Who owns Lake St. Charles?
A: Lake St. Charles is owned by National HealthCare Corp. with home offices in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. NHC owns and manages over 100 nursing homes, including assisted living facilities and retirement communities. Nine of those nursing centers are located in Missouri, one of which is right next door to Lake St. Charles.
Q: What are the advantages of the Lake St. Charles location?
A: The historic city of St. Charles, which has many shops and complete services, is just minutes north on Highway 94, while Chesterfield Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in St. Louis County, can be reached quickly via Highway 94 south to Highway 40/61. If you prefer to drive west on I-70, the ever expanding Mid Rivers Mall is just 10 minutes away. In the immediate vicinity of Lake St. Charles are many churches, restaurants, shopping and recreational facilities.
