Retirement Living at its best by “Leaps and Bounds.”  Lake St Charles Retirement Community and Assisted Living took on our extra day this year, Leap Day 2012 to the Extreme!  We turned our Building into a Cruise Ship!  Our LSC Celebration Cruise ship welcomed our Residents Aboard with an entire day Celebration with more Fun, Lavish Food, Beverages, and Entertainment then our Residents could have ever Imagined! Attention to every detail was made by the fantastic staff at Lake St Charles.  From the Homemade massive props, to the table center pieces, including fresh beautiful flowers.  The staff paid special attention to every last detail.  We started with an amazing Breakfast full of different types of Quiche, Tropical fruit, a juice fountain, and much more.  Other events included a smoothie bar, happy hour with special tropical Coctails, homemade Frog Legs, Musical Entertainment,  a visit by the King himself, Elvis, a Casino including 7 gaming tables, Dancing, and we ended with a Lavish Dinner.  Some of our dinner items included Wine, Champagne,  Seafood, Prime Rib, Pork, and a Chocolate Bar with every type of Chocolate imaginable! The staff has been planning this event for months, and the creativity of the Props  that were made by our staff were so impressive! This event was for our Residents and our Staff!  We are such a family here at Lake St Charles!  We all enjoyed our Extra Day we had on our LSC Cruise Celebration!  WOW what an adventure!

You can smell the popcorn when LSC opened their new movie theatre in October of 2011!  The residents anxiously waited, and were surprised to watch movies on the new 105″ screen!  The new equipment includes surround sound, high definition, blue ray DVD, net flicks, and cable!  The residents are also enjoying playing the WII on the BIG screen!  Fresh popcorn in our new popper tops it off!

Lake St Charles staff would like to wish you and your families a Happy Holiday Season!  WOW it’s hard to believe I have been here 6 months already!  So many wonderful things have happened, and I’m so excited about the future.  For those who do not know me yet,  although I have been here just 6 months, I have been with NHC (owner of LSC)  for almost 15 years!  I have had the privilege of getting to know the residents as well as meeting so many wonderful families.  We have started many new programs that we will continue through 2012!  December is packed full of entertainment and exciting events.  There are so many choices for the residents and their families to spend quality time together!  I’m finding Lake St Charles to be such a happy place to be!

In honor of Pearl Harbor day, LSC hosted historian and author Maj. (Ret.) Art Schuermann to our monthly Lunch N Learn on December 7.  We hosted over 75 guests to lunch followed by a presentation on the history of Jefferson Barracks.  He spoke about interesting stories about Jefferson Barracks that dated from 1826 to the present time.  We ended with questions and book signing.

This presentation was a nice addition to the Fantastic 16th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony LSC hosted under the direction of the Administrator Samantha Davis on 11-11-11.  LSC presented 36 awards to our community residents!  Presentations from CDR Lawrence Walworth, USN, Chaplain David Poland, Michael Spurgeon (St Charles City Administrator), Laurie Feldman (St Charles City Council), and USAF Junior ROTC -Normandy Senior High Color Guard.
